2019 F Trendon Watford (Mountain Brook, AL) – The 6-foot-9 forward Trendon Watford made his second appearance in the famous City of Palms Classic this past week and had a stock rising performance. Watford averaged 24.6 points per game in Mountain Brook’s three games in Fort Myers while snagging 10.3 rebounds per game. He holds a big body frame that fits well with his height and showed why he was considered one the top scorers in his class. He is an all-level scorer who was able to beat most of his opponents off the dribble and show that he has a pure jumper. Watford was also effective on the defense glass and offensive glass as well as you can see from his stat line. 

2020 W Cam’Ron Fletcher (Vashon, MO) – One of the top prospects in that loaded 2020 class, Cam’Ron Fletcher, was making his City of Palms debut last week and certainly had a solid week against the top competition. Saint Louis native sits at 6-foot-7 with extremely long arms that assists him on both sides of the ball. Cam’Ron averaged 19.5 points per game in Vashon’s four games played last week. He is an explosive athlete who is very skilled at the wing position and can also crash the boards. He is a solid defender and playmaker on offense. Although most of his buckets came from drives, Fletcher has an effective three point shot and connected on a few jumpers from beyond the arc. 

2019 PG Diego Rivera (Miami Christian, FL) – 6-foot-2 Diego Rivera was a big sleeper in my eyes last week at the City of Palms Classic. The senior point guard is very fundamentally sound and is just a good basketball player with a nice feel for the game. Rivera did have trouble finishing around the rim when driving the lane at times but he is an incredible shot maker off the dribble and catch. He lacks physicality but the way he moves without the ball and able to make the right play makes up for that. Diego averaged 20.0 points per game in his time in Fort Myers, Florida, which was listed at one of the top scorers.

Maryland signee 2019 F Donta Scott (Imhotep Charter, PA) – Maryland signee Donta Scott was another prospect who I thought had a stock rising performance all last week at the City of Palms. The 6-foot-7 forward took over and literally put the team on his back once Xavier signee 2019 PG Dahmir Bishop went down with an ankle injury early in their second game. Donta averaged 19.2 points per game while grabbing only 6.0 rebounds per game. He is a drive first forward but will not hesitate to shoot the ball when his opponents gave him the chance. Scott is a good shooter and is also a solid on ball defender. He is a physical forward who was able to take the contact down low and still be able to finish. 

2022 PG Knasir “Dug” McDaniel (Paul VI, VA)– Let us remember the name Dug McDaniel. When a kid coming straight out of middle school can play on the big stage like the City of Palms you know their future is bright and that is exactly was Dug McDaniel did last week with his Paul VI squad. With top prospects Jeremy Roach and Anthony Harris out for the year, McDaniel knew it was his time. He is not a score first type of point guard, not yet at least, but he is tremendously smooth and crafty and was able to run the offense against some big time programs. McDaniel has great vision and only sits at 5-foot-10. He sees plays ahead of others and is certainly more mature than others in his class.
