AAU Season is just around the corner and will officially begin in just a couple of weeks. With that being said it is almost that time for college coaches and scouts to find out who they will be scouting and looking forward to seeing this spring and summer on the circuit. We had a few stock risers during last year’s AAU season. Prospects like Rajean “Boogie” Ellis, Anthony Edwards, CJ Walker, Kai Jones, Sharife Cooper, Evan Mobley, and others rose their stock last spring/summer. So which prospects can have a stock rising AAU season this year? Let us take a look.

2020 PG Andre Curbelo of Long Island Lutheran (NY) – Andre Curbelo is just one of the few prospects that has received multiple buzz throughout the season with his incredible play on the floor. He is a 6-foot-0 point guard who is extremely fundamentally sounded and just has a nice feel for the game and it shows. Andre might not be the most quickest or flashiest guard that you are used to seeing, but he is the definition of a floor general. The 2020 guard should certainly shoot up in the rankings after this summer is all set and done. He has offers already from St. John’s, West Virginia, Dayton, Florida, Georgetown, and others with interest from multiple others. Andre has already announced he will be running with the NY Jayhawks (NY) on the Adidas Gauntlet.

2020 PG Sharife Cooper of McEachern High School (GA) – Sharife Cooper has been dominating the national scene for over a year now and will bring that same momentum into his last year of AAU with Athletes of Tomorrow (GA) on the Nike EYBL circuit. Even though he has been killing all year long during his junior campaign, Sharife is not yet done rising his stock and after this summer he should be marked as the number one point guard in his class. The 6-foot-1 point guard is extremely good in the open court and his IQ is off the charts when he posses the rock. He is able to change speeds in a blink of an eye and always leaves his defenders dragging behind him. His offers include Kentucky, Auburn, Alabama, Clemson, Rutgers, and more.

2020 G Cade Cunningham of Montverde Academy (FL) – Cade is currently the number nine overall prospect in his class according to ESPN, so why is he on the list you may ask? Cunningham has taken over the point guard position at powerhouse Montverde Academy (FL) and was super efficient in their season. Cunningham is a top-5 player in his class and that could certainly happen by August this year. He is currently sitting at 6-foot-6 and his body is already college ready. Versatility is just another attribute Cade holds and besides his scoring skills, his passing and vision might be the best thing about him. The junior guard will be running with the Texas Titans (TX) on the Nike EYBL circuit in his last year of AAU, along side top-10 2020 F Greg Brown.

2020 PG KD Johnson of Southwest Dekalb High School (GA) – One kid that I have been bragging about for months now will have a very interesting summer this year and where I believe his stock will rise tremondously over the circuit. The 6-foot-2 point guard KD Johnson is the definition of a dog and his game speaks for itself. KD has that killer mentality and is such a pitbull defender and the numbers do not lie. He averaged almost five steals per game during the high school season, 4.7 steals per game to be exact. His scoring abilities have certainly improved since last year and his pure point guard skills have sky rocketed as well. Johnson will be running with Game Elite (GA) in the Adidas Gauntlet this AAU season.

2021 PG Devin Askew of Mater Dei High School (CA) – The 6-foot-2 point guard Devin Askew already has that dog mentality set in him as a sophomore. His tight handles and being able to penetrate the lane are just a couple key abilities this kid has in his bag. Devin is certainly in for a stock rising AAU season and running the show for Russell Westbrook’s Team Why Not (CA) progam in the Nike EYBL will help him. He is able to read angles and screens expectionally well and his IQ is fantastic. Askew can read the defense at a high level and can score in bunches if the defenses allows him to get off. He is already currently ranked in the top-25 for the sophomore class but by the end of the summer he could potentially be put in the top-10 conversation.

2020 PG Deivon Smith of Grayson High School (GA) – Here is one of the most athletic guards you will witness this AAU season, 6-foot-0 point guard Deivon Smith. The junior point guard has received all types of recognition during the high school season and division one offers were coming in from left and right. Deivon holds elite athleticism and explosiveness for a kid his size. Over the course of the season, Smith averaged around eight rebounds per game and at one point was averaging 9.1 rebounds per contest. He is a certified playmaker and has the skills to finish around the rim and through traffic down low. He holds elite speed and will leave his defender in a blink of an eye and if caught slipping, he will posterize his defender. 2020 F Corey Walker of Bishop Snyder High School (FL) – The 6-foot-6 forward Corey Walker Jr. could have the biggest stock rise out of all if he continues to prove he is one of the elite scorers in his class. The Jacksonville native deserves more attention than what he receives already. Corey is a solid all around forward who is capable of doing multiple things on the basketball court. He has an elite pull up jumper which is very hard to defend, especially if he is able to see over his defender. He is a super active defender where he shows he is able to block shots and force turnovers from his opponents and he has very accurate timing on his steals. Walker will be running with Game Elite (FL) in the Adidas Gauntlet once again this AAU season.

2020 C Dylan Cardwell of Oak Hill Academy (VA) – The Oak Hill Academy (VA) big man Dylan Cardwell, in my opinion, could be in for a huge spring, summer running with the Athletes of Tomorrow (GA) Running Rebels on the Nike EYBL circuit. He is a 6-foot-10 big with great hands and very mobile for a kid his size. Cardwell is a competitive and energized guy who will bring the intensity on both ends of the floor. Running with a point guard like Sharife Cooper is a perfect fit for a center like Dylan. He has a high IQ when he is on the floor and just knows how to play his role and plays his game the best he can. Cardwell can also be effective on the offensive and defensive glass and is just an all around quality big. He received good minutes in his junior season at Oak Hill and his recruitment should certainly pick up even more this AAU season.

2021 F Duncan Powell of DeSoto (TX) – One of the lone star state’s best sophomores, Dylan Powell could potentially make a national name for himself after this AAU season. The 6-foot-7 forward holds high versatility and is able to play multiple positions if you need him too. He has a sweet stroke on his jump shot, he is able to run the floor in transition, and can finish at the rim and through contact. Duncan holds nice strength as a sophomore and he is not afraid to throw it down from time to time for a powerful finish. The sophomore forward only has two offers coming into this AAU season but that can potentially change by the end of the summer.

2020 SG Malachi Wideman of Riverview High School (FL) – Junior two-guard Malachi Wideman has already boosted his stock this high school season and will look to continue that throughout the spring, summer. Malachi is an extremely gifted athlete with nice size at that two-guard position. He will proabably be one of the most exciting prospects to witness this AAU season with his high flying dunks and power finishes. Wideman is explosive, bouncy, and has underrated quickness in his package. Shooting the rock is no problem for him either. He has a very nice release on his jump shot and able to spread the defense out once he is on the perimeter. Malachi will be running with Team Florida (FL) in the Adidas Gauntlet in his last year of AAU.
