7-foot-0 2020 C Walker Kessler out of Woodward Academy (GA), is currently one of the top-25 prospects in his class. Walker has not really received the national attention he deserves throughout the high school from the media but that did not stop college coaches and scouts to come take a look at a potential future lottery pick. Schools like Auburn, Michigan, Vanderbilt, Charleston Southern, Tennessee, Duke, Virginia, and others have stopped by this season at some point to check him out.
Why is he considered a potential future lottery pick? Kessler is a unique and very skilled big man and he is capable of doing a ton offensively. Walker actually holds a solid handle for a kid his size and besides finishing around the rim, he can fit in with today’s NBA by stepping out beyond the arc and knocking down jump shots. He can be considered as a pick and pop type of big man who gives opponents all sorts of problems. Since sitting at 7-foot-0, he is a force down low inside the paint and his presence is always known. He can block shots and rebound at a tremendous rate and especially with his long arms.

I had a chance to speak with Walker’s mother regarding his recruitment. She tells me schools like Duke, North Carolina, Virginia, Michigan, Georgia, Auburn, and Vanderbilt have been in contact with them the most up to this point. Walker has taken official visits to Michigan, Duke, Vanderbilt, and Virginia and unofficials to Auburn and Georgia. She also tells me that they do plan to take one more visit soon but that has not been scheduled as of yet and a decision has yet to be made. The 7-foot-0 junior will be participating in the USA Basketball mini-camp that will be held in Minnesota next month April 4-7th and he will also be running with Game Elite (FL) in the Adidas Gauntlet this AAU season.
