USA U19 national teams full tryout roster official announced

The 2019 U19 FIBA Americas World Cup is approaching us quickly and the 30 plus athletes to tryout for this summer’s U19 FIBA Americas roster was announced officially earlier today. Training camp will take place in Colorado Springs, Colorado on June 15th through June 18th. The official 12-man roster is expected to be officially announced on the morning of June 18th according to USA Basketball.

Some of the top prospects in the country in the 2019 and 2020 class will be competing for a spot on the 12-man roster headed to Greece. A couple players, who have already experienced the life of college basketball like now sophomore Alabama University PG Kira Lewis Jr., will be competing for a spot as well. Prospects like 2020 G Cade Cunningham, 2020 PG Jalen Suggs, 2020 F Scottie Barnes, 2019 PG RJ Hampton, 2019 PG Rocket Watts Jr. (Michigan State commit), 2019 C Isaiah Stewart (Washington commit), 2020 PG Sharife Cooper, 2020 C Evan Mobley, 2020 SG Jalen Green, 2019 F Jeremiah Robinson-Earl (Villanova commit), and others are expected to compete as well representing the 2019 and 2020 class.

2019 PG RJ Hampton

A few athlete, who already have USA Basketball experience in the past, will be returning to Colorado Springs this June. Players like 2019 PG R.J. Hampton, 2020 C Evan Mobley, 2020 F Scottie Barnes, 2019 F Romeo Weems (DePaul commit), 2020 SG Jalen Green, 2019 PG Rocket Watts Jr. (Michigan State commit), 2019 F Jeremiah Robinson-Earl (Villanova commit), 2019 C Isaiah Stewart (Washington commit), and 2020 PG Jalen Suggs have won gold medals in the past with the 2017 U16 FIBA Americas and 2018 U18 FIBA Americas squads. 2019 SG Justin Moore (Villanova commit) and 2019 F Isaac Okoro (Auburn commit) recently helped the USA national team defeat the World Team back in April at the 2019 Nike Hoop Summit.

This summer’s U19 World Cup will be played in Herakilon, Greece on June 29th through July 7th. This year’s squad will be led by Kansas State head coach Bruce Weber. Washington head coach Mike Hopkins and North Carolina Central head coach LeVelle Moton will be the assist coaches. The USA U19 team will be looking to redeem themselves this summer after falling to Team Canada in the semi-finals back in 2017 in Cairo, Egypt and where Kentucky head coach John Calipari was the leader of that USA squad.
