A crazy and surprising week came upon us this past week, weekend in the world of high school hoops. Three of our top-5 national programs took a lost this past week, weekend and of course that made a few shifts in our national top-25. A couple shifts in our “next five” rankings also have been made after a crazy dramatic week in the world of high school hoops. The end of the 2019-2020 high school season is almost at an end and the 2020 GEICO Nationals field will get a first look pretty soon. Below find out what our Week 11 top-25 and “next five” rankings look like.

1. Montverde Academy (FL) (25-0) – The Eagles begin and finish their regular season as the number one ranked team in the country for the 2019-2020 high school season. They finished their incredible run in the regular season this past weekend by capturing the 2020 St. James Invitational title. They defeated IMG Academy (FL), for the third time this season, in the championship game. Montverde will be the number one overall seed obviously when the time comes to make the 2020 GEICO Nationals tournament bracket. They are also the clear cut favorites.

2. Hamilton Heights (TN) (23-2) – The Hawks improved to 23-2 overall on the high school season and have moved back to the number two spot in our national top-25 after getting wins over the weekend over Memphis East (TN) and McCallie (TN). Hamilton Heights participated in the Dr. Pepper Classic over the weekend in Chattanooga, Tennessee. They will be off this week and not play again until February 11th.

3. Prolific Prep (CA) (22-3) – The Crew of Prolific Prep were off this past week and weekend and will be back in action this week as they head to Arizona this weekend and will face Trinity International (NV) and Compass Prep (AZ) as part of the Grind Session series.

4. DeMatha Catholic (MD) (19-2) – The Stags enter our national top-5 in our national top-25 for the first time this high school season and have been moved up to the number four spot. DeMatha defeated big time WCAC rival Paul VI (VA) last week 62-60 and sit at the top of the standings in the WCAC. The Stags will have three games this week and one including a rematch with WCAC rival Gonzaga (DC) Saturday night.

5. Minnehaha Academy (MN) (16-2) – Minnehaha rounds out our top-5 rankings for the week in our national top-25 after going 4-0 last week including a big win over La Crosse (WI) as part of the Wisconsin vs Minnesota border battle. The Redhawks will have two road games this week against St. Paul Central (MN) and St. Peter (MN).

6. Sierra Canyon (CA) (22-3) – Sierra Canyon will enter this week’s rankings as the number six team in the country in our national top-25. The Trailblazers went 2-0 last week and holding their opponents just under 60 points. Sierra Canyon will have one game this week before heading back East to compete in the Metro Classic Session II in Toms River, New Jersey to end their regular season.

7. La Lumiere (IN) (18-3) – La Lumiere has had a sort of quiet impressive season only losing three games up to this point. The Lakers recently went 3-0 this past week and winning the Bob Kirk Invitational in Maryland boosting their resume. La Lumiere will have three more games this week in the state of Indiana.

8. Oak Hill Academy (VA) (31-2) – Oak Hill Academy took their first home lost last week for the first time in several years to a very good West Oaks Academy (FL) squad and only giving them their second lost of the season. The Warriors have not lost since early November but did bounce back with a win over Bull City Prep (NC). Oak Hill will play one game this week before their big matchup against top-25 nationally ranked St. Frances Academy (MD) at UMBC in Maryland.

9. Wasatch Academy (UT) (25-2) – The Tigers drop a few spots after losing to an unranked St. Benedict’s Prep (NJ) squad over the weekend at the Bob Kirk Invitational in Maryland. Wasatch Academy did finish the tournament with a 2-1 record and taking home the third place trophy. They will have two games this week against Layton Christian Academy (UT) and American Heritage (UT).

10. Sunrise Christian (KS) (16-3) – A bad lost to an unranked Memphis East (TN) squad this past weekend drops Sunrise Christian down to the number ten spot in our national top-25. The Buffaloes took that lost in Chattanooga, Tennessee as part of the Dr. Pepper Classic. Sunrise Christian will have two games this week back home against Church Prep (OK) and Next Level Prep.

11. Centennial (CA) (24-2) – It has been 20 straight games since the Huskies last lost a game and improve to 24-2 overall with three wins last week in Southern California. Centennial ranks second, behind Sierra Canyon, in the state of California. They will have two more games this week against King (CA) and Roosevelt (CA) to end their regular season.

12. IMG Academy (FL) (16-5) – IMG Academy competed in the St. James Invitational this past weekend in Maryland and where they took a lost to Montverde Academy (FL), for the third time this season, in the title game. They did, however, capture a big win over Hillcrest Prep (AZ) in the same event. The Ascenders will have two games this week before heading back to Maryland to face Baltimore Poly (MD) as part of the East Coast Bump Saturday night.

13. Long Island Lutheran (NY) (17-3) – The Crusaders were back in action since their trip from Florida two weekends ago and defeated Green Tech (NY) 74-49. Long Island Lutheran will have one game this week before their huge matchup against top-10 nationally ranked Sierra Canyon (CA) Saturday night in New Jersey as part of the Metro Classic Session II.

14. Bishop Gorman (NV) (21-3) – A big win for the Gaels this past weekend as they defeated Harvard-Westlake (CA) in the Nike Extravaganza at Mater Dei High School in Southern California. Bishop Gorman has now improved to 21-3 overall and will play their last two games of the regular season this week. A spot in the 2020 GEICO Nationals is certainly possible once again for the Las Vegas powerhouse.

15. Dorman (SC) (21-1) – The Cavaliers move up one spot in our national top-25 and improve their winning streak to 19 straight games. Dorman will have to road games this week against Hillcrest (SC) and Boiling Springs (SC).

16. Paul VI (VA) (18-5) – The Panthers took a tough lost to now top-5 nationally ranked and WCAC foe DeMatha Catholic (MD) last week 62-60 on the road. They improve to 18-5 on the season and will play three games this week before their big matchup against Gonzaga (DC) next week.

17. The Patrick School (NJ) (13-5) – The Celtics win three straight games last week as they defeated Trenton Catholic (NJ), Newark Eastside (NJ), and rival Roselle Catholic (NJ) and where 2021 F Adama Sanogo posted 17 points and 23 boards. The Patrick School will have two games later this in the Metro Classic Session II against Huntington Prep (WV) and Wildwood Catholic (NJ). 2021 F Jon Kuminga is expected to suit up and play this weekend.

18. Scotlandville (LA) (25-3) – The Hornets were off last week since coming back from their Florida trip in the Montverde Academy Invitational Tournament and will be back in action this week as they have two games. They will face Istrouma (LA) and Walker (LA) this week.

19. Grayson (GA) (24-1) – The Rams finish out their regular season last week on a 16-game winning streak and will begin post season play later this weekend in their region tournament. Grayson will have a chance to make the 2020 GEICO Nationals field if they are able to win the Georgia Class 7A state title, the highest classification in the state of Georgia.

20. St. Frances Academy (MD) (27-3) – The Panthers win easily in their two games they had last week and improve to an overall 27-3 record. St. Frances Academy still has a chance to boost their resume as they face top-10 nationally ranked Oak Hill Academy (VA) this Saturday night at home and as part of the East Coast Bump at UMBC.

21. Camden (NJ) (15-1) – Camden continues their winning streak after going 2-0 last week and are currently on an 11-game winning streak. The Panthers will have two games this week before they make their appearance in the Metro Classic Session II this weekend in Toms River, New Jersey and where they will face Gill St. Bernard’s (NJ).

22. Rancho Christian (CA) (20-5) – The Eagles get the close win over a tough Gonzaga (DC) squad 58-55 this past weekend as part of the Nike Extravaganza at Mater Dei High School in Southern California. Rancho Christian will play their last game of the season this Saturday night against Ribet Academy (CA) as part of the SoCal Finale.

23. Neumann-Goretti (PA) (16-3) – Neumann-Goretti moves down five spots after taking a lost to Bishop McDevitt (PA) 60-57 over the weekend. That only marks the Saints third lost of the season so far. They will end their regular season this week with three more games.

24. Sheldon (CA) (19-4) – Sheldon goes 3-0 last week to improve to a 19-4 overall record up to this point in the 2019-2020 high school season. The Huskies will have two games this week against Davis (CA) and Pleasant Grove (CA).

25. West Oaks Academy (FL) (19-5) – After defeating powerhouse and top-10 nationally ranked Oak Hill Academy (VA) on their own home floor, West Oaks Academy (FL) is our newest face in our national top-25 and well deserved. West Oaks also defeated top-5 nationally ranked Prolific Prep (CA) earlier this season. They will have two games this week against Victory Rock Prep (FL) and Oldsmar Christian (FL).

Next Five:

Blair Academy (NJ) (20-2) – Blair Academy leads our “next five” rankings this week after going 2-0 last week and improving to a 20-2 overall record. The Bucs will not play again until later this weekend. One of the top underappreciated teams in the nation.

St. John’s College (DC) (18-6) – The Cadets have lost three straight games to all WCAC opponents, two of them against top-25 nationally ranked Paul VI (VA). St. John’s will look to bounce back this week as they have four games this week and one including a rematch with Gonzaga (DC).

Huntington Prep (WV) (17-8) – The Irish make their way into our “next five” rankings for the first time this high school season after taking a three point lost this past weekend to Tampa Catholic (FL) as part of the Tampa ARS Hoopfest. Huntington Prep will try to bounce back this weekend as they are headed to New Jersey to compete in the Metro Classic Session II.

St. Benedict’s Prep (NJ) (22-4) – The Gray Bees enter our “next five” rankings after getting a big win over the weekend against then top-5 nationally ranked Wasatch Academy (UT) as part of the Bob Kirk Invitational. St. Benedict’s did take a lost in overtime to top-10 nationally ranked La Lumiere (IN) in overtime. The Gray Bees earned our respect as they do hold a couple quality wins in their resume.

Westtown School (PA) (18-6) – The Moose win their matchup 87-51 last week against FCS (PA). Westtown School will face SHP (PA) in the FSL semifinals this week with the championship at La Salle University on Friday.
