The new freshman class, class of 2023, has made their way into high school and have started to work on their high school careers throughout the 2019-2020 high school season. Some prospects in the 2023 class have been more impactful than others and here we take a look at which freshmen prospects have made names for themselves already nationally. 

SG Mikey Williams (San Ysidro, CA) – It is without question, Mikey Williams will probably be the nation’s number one prospect in the 2023 class for now once the full list of national rankings are released. Williams is a 6-foot-2 combo guard who has already been known for his dynamic scoring and highlight reel dunks. He has been on the national stage before he even entered high school and is as good as advertised. Mikey holds gifted athleticism, a powerful finisher when attacking the rim, can score in variety of ways, and has had multiple games already where he scored over 30 points. Williams will be the next big name in the world of high school hoops. 

PG Isaiah Collier (Wheeler, GA) – Isaiah Collier, the starting point guard for the famous Wheeler High School in metro Atlanta, made a name for himself during last summer’s grassroots season and Jr. NBA Global Championships. Collier is an elite pass first point guard that already has the vision to create multiple scoring opportunities for his teammates. He has that positional size, athletic ability, and quickness as a freshman prospect. Isaiah has a mature game and college coaches and scouts have already spoken on his upside. The 6-foot-2 point guard will have a big grassroots season running with The Skills Factory (GA) in the 2020 Nike EYBL.

PG DaJuan Wagner Jr. (Camden, NJ) – DaJaun Wagner Jr., son of former NBA player DaJuan Wagner, has received major buzz over the last few months and has not dissapointed throughout the 2019-2020 high school season. Wagner Jr. has helped Camden (NJ) to become one of the best teams in the nation this season and should certainly be one of the top ranked prospects in the class. He sits at 6-foot-1, already seems to have a mature body, a shifty guard with finesse, and is able to hit multiple jumpers from the perimeter. DaJuan will have college coaches and scouts out their seats this grassroots season with his eye-opening game on the floor.

SG Bronny James Jr. (Sierra Canyon, CA) – Bronny James Jr., the son of the Lebron James of the Los Angeles Lakers, has done his part this high school season in his first year at Sierra Canyon High School and helping them to be one of the best teams in the country. James Jr. sits at about 6-foot-3 with a super mature physical profile for his age. He is an outstanding perimeter shooter and helps space the floor in the Sierra Canyon offense. Bronny holds great explosiveness and shows his athleticism from time to time when on the floor. James Jr. shows great upside and is without a doubt one of the top freshmen in the 2023 class.

SG Elijah Fisher (Crestwood, Canada) – Elijah Fisher should be Canada’s next and upcoming star prospect, following the footsteps of guys like R.J. Barrett, Andrew Wiggins, and Jamal Murray, just to name a few. The 6-foot-5 freshman alreadys holds offers from high major schools like Oregon, Vanderbilt, Texas A&M, Florida, and others so far into his freshman season. Fisher has an excellent and mature physical profile, holds great strength, a determined driver, and holds that score first mentality. Elijah has already held buzz before he entered high school and will continue to grow his game as his high school career goes on.

PG Kanaan Carlyle (Milton, GA) – Another dynamic and electric guard to keep an eye on for this 2023 class will be the 6-foot-0 Kanaan Carlyle of Milton High School. Carlyle already holds offers and interest from schools like Auburn, Ole Miss, Georgia Tech, Florida, Kentucky, and others. He is an incredible shot making guard who serves off-ball value, can hit shots off the bounce and/or catch, and able to score in bunches. It is too early to tell, but Kanann could certainly be considered as one of the top scorers in his class once he enters his senior year. He will be apart of the backcourt this summer once again along with Isaiah Collier.
