The USA Basketball U16 Junior National Team will host a minicamp with only 24 of the nation’s top prospects from the 2023 and 2024 class from May 27-30 at Strake Jesuit College Prep in Houston, Texas. This will be the first ever USA minicamp since October of 2019, according to USA Basketball.
Due to the outbreak of the coronavirus last year, all USA related activities were postponed and/or cancelled and even the 2020 Olympics, which was supposed to be held in Tokyo, Japan. The U16 USA Men’s National Team captured the gold medal the last time the U16 FIBA America’s Championships took place in Brazil back in 2019 where they finished with a 6-0 overall record.
Former and legendary DeMatha Catholic (MD) head coach, Mike Jones, who is now an assistant with Virginia Tech, Sharman White, head coach of Pace Academy (GA), and Eric Flannery, head coach of St. Edward’s (OH), are all expected to return to coach this summer’s U16 national team.
Some of the top prospects from the 2023 class include 2023 PG Kylan Boswell, 2023 PG Robert Dillingham, 2023 F Jordan Butler, 2023 F Justin McBride, 2023 F Jacolb Cole, 2023 PG Jaylen Curry, 2023 C Dennis Evans, 2023 F Ronald Holland, 2023 F Jalen Lewis, and 2023 F Jaylin Stewart.
