As the 2023-2024 high school season approaches, many high level prospects have announced where they will be playing during this upcoming high school season. There has been a long list of transfers throughout the last few months, as usual, and here is a look at which prospects could make their impact the most with their new programs.
2026 A.J. Dybantsa (Prolific Prep, CA)
Prolific Prep definitely had the best offseason move this past spring, summer after they were able to secure highly rated 2026 A.J. Dybantsa to their roster for the 2023-2024 high school season. Dybantsa will be joining an elite and talented group of prospects. The 6-foot-8 forward is by far one of the most interesting long term prospects in the country. He certainly is one of the reasons Prolific Prep will be must-see television throughout this high school season.
2025 Darius Acuff (IMG Academy, FL)
Darius Acuff had himself an eye-opening grassroots season in the Nike EYBL and now has made his way to the Sunshine State entering his junior campaign. Acuff’s transition now gives IMG and head coach Sean McAloon a legit lead guard to run the offense. He will be able to bring an incredible balance of scoring and facilitating. The 6-foot-2 guard will be surrounded with high level talent to work with as IMG Academy is already projected as a top-10 preseason team.
2024 Carter Bryant (Corona Centennial, CA)
Corona Centennial has always been one of California’s top basketball programs and one of the nation’s top public school programs. Arizona commit Carter Bryant will finish out his high school career with the powerhouse public school program, who will be looking to secure another CIF state title. The 6-foot-9 forward adds another elite caliber prospect to the Huskies roster this season and will be a major impact on Corona’s success in 2023-2024.
2025 Bryce James (Notre Dame, CA)
Bryce James, the son of Los Angeles Lakers LeBron James, will be playing for the defending CIF Division I champions, Notre Dame High School in Sherman Oaks. The rising junior was expected to attend Campbell Hall (CA) before attending Notre Dame earlier this offseason. Bryce had some impressive moments this grassroots season and adds more talent for the Knights come 2023-2024.
2024 Tre Johnson (Link Academy, MO)
Link Academy is coming into their third season as a high school varsity program and have already captured a GEICO Nationals title. Tre Johnson is one of the more highly rated long term prospects in the country and he headlines a list of top transfers the Lions received this offseason. The 6-foot-6 guard will be looking to help Link Academy repeat as national champions come March.
2024 Luke Bamgboye (AZ Compass Prep, AZ)
AZ Compass Prep made their first appearance in the GEICO Nationals title game just last season and will look to make their way back come the end of the 2023-2024 high school season. Luke Bamgboye, a 6-foot-11 big man, will make his impact immediately on the national stage with AZ Compass. The rising senior gives the Dragons an elite caliber rim protector along with their tenacious tandem of guards.
2025 Darryn Peterson (Huntington Prep, WV)
One of the nation’s top prospects in the 2025 class, Darryn Peterson, made it known he will begin his next chapter at powerhouse Huntington Prep in West Virginia. Peterson should have Huntington Prep back this season as one of the top programs in the country. He will certainly headline their roster as they are expected to play another big time national schedule in 2023-2024.
2024 Jase Richardson and 2026 Jaxon Richardson (Columbus, FL)
Jase and Jaxon Richardson, sons of former NBA player Jason Richardson, shocked the nation when they announced they will be teaming up with 2025s Cayden and Cameron Boozer, sons of former 2x All Star Carlos Boozer, at Columbus High School in Miami. The Richardsons add extreme value to the defending FHSAA 7A state champions.
2024 Bryson Tucker (Bishop O’Connell, VA)
Bryson Tucker has not played a high school game since early January back with IMG Academy (FL). The 6-foot-7 guard makes his return to the court this high school season with Bishop O’Connell High School. Tucker makes the Knights even scarier coming into 2023-2024 and will look to help lead them to a WCAC title, one of the nation’s toughest high school basketball leagues.
2025 B.J. Davis-Ray (Duncanville, TX)
Duncanville High School has made their names known on the national stage over the last few years. The Panthers lose a bunch from their incredible 2022-2023 squad but should still be considered as one of the nation’s best public school programs. B.J. Davis-Ray, a 6-foot-7 forward, adds talent, depth, and athleticism for Duncanville this upcoming season.
